The page you requested does not exist in Excel Interactive View: SharePoint 2013

Issue: One of internal user when using Excel Interactive View with excel service was getting the error message:

Error: The page you requested does not exist.

Environment: SharePoint 2013, Office 2013, Windows 7.

Troubleshooting:

Every troubleshooting start with the basic steps such as checking the
  •        Office package
  •          Office repairs
  •          Settings on Document Library
  •         Repair via Office diagnostics etc.

However, in this case it this error was a bit tedious as I have never worked Excel Interactive Views in the SharePoint 2013. I think I should also shed some light on what is Excel Interactive View is?

Excel Interactive View is a brand new technology introduced in Excel Services 2013. Excel Interactive View uses HTML, JavaScript, and Excel Services to generate Excel table and chart views on-the-fly, in the browser, from an HTML table hosted on a web page. By using Excel Interactive View, users can harness the analytically power of Excel for use on any HTML table on any web page, in most browsers, without having Excel installed.

Resolution: I found a MS KB article which talks about the same behavior and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2761245.

It describe the cause of the issue, that is occurs because of the history management technology that is used by the webpage. This history management technology uses a number sign to pass the previous state of the webpage contained in the browsing history

To get rid of the issue, you need to remove the webpage versions history or recommended to create a new webpage and start over and make sure webpage URL should not contain a number sign (#).

If you have any difficulty in resolving this issue, please drop your query in comment section below.

Products applies to: SharePoint Server 2013, Office 2013.
